Dear Sir:

Your letter to Genl. [[underlined]] Howard [[/underlined]] has been given me to answer. I expect, with [[underlined]] J. M. Langston [[/underlined]] Esq. true. We have been ready to aid in building school-houses in Maryland, but just now we are doing nothing in that way. The season is so late and change in the Bureau so near, that we must not agree to aid in the erection of more school-houses at present. If the way is again opened I will let you know.

Very Respectfully, Yours

Dear Sir:

I send your account. I have made it at $20.00 per month per teacher. If you have made any other price with any teacher you must change it. I have stated the time from which they should be paid: to the best of my knowledge I believe I am correct.

Miss [[underlined]] Howell [[/underlined]] has not reported and I do not know her time. Please fill it out, also Miss [[underlined]] Anderson's [[/underlined]] at Port Deposit, if you wish me to pay her.

I have put in the book account as you requested. After writing the other day, I found that Miss [[underlined]] Haviland [[/underlined]] commenced school on the 16th of Nov. and therefore I have put her in the list from that time. Shall I send you reports of your schools each month?

Very Respectfully, Yours
