Bureau R. F. & A. L.
Head Quarters Asst. Com'r D.C.
Washington, Dec. 21st 1868.

[[underlined]] Cushing J. M. [[/underlined]]
Baltimore, Md.

Dear Sir:

I do not know the trustees, or I would write to them for deeds of land, but even then they are ignorant men often, and would not know what to do. I thought the teachers could best do this work, often through the trustees. I must have copies of the deeds in order to turn over to the trustees what the Bureau has put into these houses.

Can you suggest any better way to get at this matter?

Very Respectfully, Yours
