Dear Sir:

Capt. [[underlined]] Young [[/underlined]] wrote that there are some bricks, about 4000, stored by Capt. [[underlined]] Brubaker [[/underlined]] in one of his store-houses, which he wants to clear up. Says he can sell them for us for about $8.00 per M., if we want him so to do. Do you know of any real want for them in the school line? If not I will have them sold.

Very Respectfully, Yours

Dear Sir:

Genl. [[underlined]] C. H. Howard, [[/underlined]] Maj. [[underlined]] VanDerlip [[/underlined]] and myself have been appointed by the Bureau to investigate the burning of that school-house. Unless there are urgent reasons for coming now, we shall not probably leave Washington until Monday.
Please inform me of the best route, time of trains &c. And say if we should, in your opinion, come sooner.

Very Respectfully, Yours

Dear Sir:

The Bureau does not aid the Arlington school beyond providing school rooms and furniture, to my knowledge.

Mr. [[underlined]] Laws [[/underlined]] informs me that Dr. [[underlined]] Turney, [[/underlined]] (a Baptist teacher, of whom you know,) ownes one of the buildings, having bought it

from the Bureau: but I think this is a mistake. These being Bureau buildings, you see no rent can be collected. Mrs. [[underlined]] Spencer, [[/underlined]] one of the teachers, has a good school: the rest are of little account. [[underlined]] Laws [[/underlined]] and [[underlined]] Turney [[/underlined]] have given us a great deal of trouble.
