Dear Sir:

$28.58 was the amount due you. I paid [[underlined]] Johnson [[/underlined]] and sent the remainder to your wife by check on Jany. 12th. I directed my letter as you told me: not to Mrs. [[underlined]] S. A. Douglas, [[/underlined]] but to her name. Am sorry I have not some money to send you.

Very Respectfully, Yours

I do not know what property is in the store-house belonging to you, but judge there are Slates, Maps, Globes &c., moved from Kendall Green.

Dear Sir:

I cannot get transportation for [[underlined]] Venning [[/underlined]] and others to the same places again. If you can send [[underlined]] Johnson [[/underlined]] and pay fare, I can send him to his place by stage from Washington on Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday at 8 o'clock A.M. I can probably get transportation for the other two, to new places if they will be sure to follow instructions when started. One I will send where [[underlined]] Lock [[/underlined]] was last year; the other to Plum Point in same County (Calvert). I do not like the way they managed.

If this will not do then I can furnish them employment under the Baltimore Association in other places in Maryland.

Very Respectfully, Yours

Dear Sir:

I find difficulty about the postage on papers sent. I cannot now use Genl. [[underlined]] Howard's [[/underlined]] Frank for their distribution. The colored people would gladly pay the postage, I think, in most cases, although they are very poor, but it would be but a small sum in each case.
Cannot your Society help us by paying postage on these packages? You can in this way continue a most excellent work. Such beautiful papers have never been distributed in Maryland, and they will do great good among all classes.

Very Respectfully, Yours
