Dear Sir:

The Baltimore Association takes ladies [[underlined]] Curry [[/underlined]] and [[underlined]] Owens. [[/underlined]] I therefore charge Miss [[underlined]] Hall [[/underlined]] to you from February 1st.

I suppose Miss [[underlined]] Howell's [[/underlined]] old place is open to a white teacher. I should send such an one by the same route taken by Miss [[underlined]] H [[/underlined]]. via Baltimore and the Patuxent River. I hope Miss [[underlined]] H. [[/underlined]] informed you that the place is open. I have not heard from there since she left, but when she did leave was informed they would want a colored man: such a man is hard to find.

Very Respectfully Yours

Dear Sir:

I have obtained a very excellent man, as I think for Salisbury, and being sure, as you have not asked transportation, that you have not filled the place, I have asked his transportation, as appointed by your Association, and expect he will come to Baltimore by the 12-30 P. M. train tomorrow. I have told him that he was sure of $20.00 per month, and if I had influence, of $25.00. He has promised to stay until July. I told him he might be able to get a little more by keeping a night school, or in some other way, possibly. He is from Jamaica, and was educated in England, and is an Episcopal rector, and is really an intelligent man and a gentleman, now in trouble and without money. He would like the first months salary advanced. Do the best you can for him. He certainly has my sympathy.

Very Respectfully Yours,

Dear Sir:

If you are obliged to close your school I wish you to let me know the exact date when you close. I hope you will be able to keep on and make your school better and better, and give satisfaction to all. You must keep good order, and make your scholars get their lessons, and I hope no one will object to that for it would be very wrong.

Very Respectfully, Yours,
