Dear Sir:

I send your account for April, amounting to $551.70. Did I send you Mrs. [[underlined]] Davingers [[/underlined]] name in March account? or did you send me her money for that month?

Miss [[underlined]] Robinson [[/underlined]] has left her school, not being able to get on with it,, and I have closed it. As she left before the close of March I paid her but $16.00 for that month. Miss [[underlined]] Swann [[/underlined]] also lost more time than I supposed, and I paid her but $19.00 of the $27.00 you sent for her. Thus I had $12.00. [[underlined]] Thompson [[/underlined]] left Olney April 15th and I paid him $10.00 to that time, having in my hands $2.00 of your money; so please send me $549.70.

[[underlined]] Malord, [[/underlined]] whose name you see for the first time is in [[underlined]] Thompson's [[/underlined]] place at Olney (a fine fellow). [[underlined]] Keys [[/underlined]] has left Pleasant Valley. I have placed a lady there but as I am not quite certain of her full name will send her account next month. I have dismissed [[underlined]] J. B. Douglas, [[/underlined]] on complaint of the trustees at Upper Marlboro that his morals were bad. He is a smart fellow but still it was not best to keep him. I have put Miss [[underlined]] Anderson's [[/underlined]] salary for March in the bank, as she did not send report, and wrote her that I would pay her when she reported. Don't hear anything, and therefore don't ask for more money for her this month. Shall visit Port D. soon

and if all is right will ask for her two month's salary next month.

Miss [[underlined]] Bond [[/underlined]] is a new teacher at Rockville, Montgomery Co. Md., a good colored lady, I intend to place her there on account of teacher left, and with your permission I will send another teacher to Darnestown, in the same County, where there is great need, in place of [[underlined]] Douglas [[/underlined]] left.

I did not send Miss [[underlined]] Vaughn's [[/underlined]] account last month, so you get two months now. [[underlined]] Weams [[/underlined]] also I have omitted until I can visit his school, which I shall do this month. It is not best to pay him much.

Hope you will take several new teachers for summer schools. Some of the old teachers have asked when their schools will close! I reply July 1st. I would like some better teachers now, available to take some schools of the old poor teachers, and go on with them.

Very Respectfully, Yours,
[[signed]] John Kimball [[/signed]]
Supt. of Education.

Miss:

I have sent a man teacher to take your school, as it has been thought best to make such a change. I ought to have given you notice sooner but circumstances have prevent. I have always been pleased with your reports, and hope some time to employ you again, but as you have been teaching so long it may be best for you to rest awhile. I will send your salary to this date next week.

Very Respectfully, Yours,
