Dear Sir:

I expect to start next Monday for Prince George and Charles Counties. Shall get through Charles next Friday night. Then I intend to get on the "Express", at Smith's Point or near there and come to Leonardtown. Then I want to make plans for the work. My own idea is as follows.

Saturday June 26th - Leonardtown school
Sunday " [[ditto for June]] 27th - with you
Monday " [[ditto for June]] 28th - Oakville and Chaptico
Tuesday " [[ditto for June]] 29th - Milestown and St. Clements
Wednesday " [[ditto for June]] 30th - Miss [[underlined]] York [[/underlined]] and Miss [[underlined]] Vaughn [[/underlined]]
Thursday July 1st - [[underlined]] W. H. Foster [[/underlined]] and Fairfield
Friday " [[ditto for July]] 2d - Ridge and the rest until boat comes along; or come back and take the boat "Coit" at Leonardtown. But you know the routes best. I want to look up that house near Chaptico, which is not done.

I send you envelopes and paper and want you to make out the plan for the week, and send to the teachers.

Very Respectfully, Yours,

Dear Sir:

I send you the account for the month $523.05/100. [[underlined]] James [[/underlined]] sent to me for an assistant, as school was so large. I sent the man who taught it last year to assist to close of month, and then go on with the school for the summer. When he got there the people said they could not pay the board of both, so [[underlined]] James [[/underlined]] left. Miss [[underlined]] Lovett's [[/underlined]] school became small, and she sick, and I closed it on the 8th inst. [[underlined]] Nelson [[/underlined]] is in for part of May. [[underlined]] Douglass, [[/underlined]] you have paid. Miss [[underlined]] Smith's [[/underlined]] school closed with last month; got small.

I have $20.00 in bank belonging to Miss [[underlined]] Anderson. [[/underlined]] I don't know what she is doing as I have not been able to visit Port Deposit. So of [[underlined]] Weems, [[/underlined]] but shall see about him next Monday.

I made up the account early as I shall go away next Monday, examining the schools, and shall not be back until July 3d - and teachers want their money. If you will send it payable to [[underlined]] J. Q. Crosby, [[/underlined]] my clerk, he will pay them as far as he can until my return.

I judge, as you have not replied to my last, that you do not intend to keep up schools after July 1st. Suppose you will inform teachers about transportation - if you can or cannot pay it. They write me about it.

Very Respectfully, Yours,

Supt. of Education.
