Dear Sir:

Mr. Ballantyne sent you on June, 17 books amounting to $5.76, also a package of books for me, viz 12 Guyot's Geographies, and you took one Geo. with you, which @ 50¢ each amount to $6.50/100. [[underlined]] Mr. Ballantyne [[/underlined]] says he has not been paid the $5.76/100. I advise you to have [[underlined]] Mr. Simmons [[/underlined]] pay the money, and take it from your salary. If you send it by letter you do it at your own risk. I have thus lost money.

Very Respectfully, Yours,
Superintendent of Education.

Dear Sir:

I have a bill against you as follows.

One Map of the U.S. | $3.00
7 Guyot's Geographies @ 50¢ | 3.50/100
{ | $6.50/100

I do not know what [[underlined]] Mr Ballantyne's [[/underlined]] bill is. I suppose he sent it with the books. I am not willing to trust money in letters for you. I have lost money in that way. It is much better to have Mr. Simmons take it from your salary, and send by check from New York.

I have got your books from [[underlined]] Adams' [[/underlined]] Express and paid 55¢ expressage. [[underlined]] Mr. B. [[/underlined]] has promised to send them. I presume by the Columbia next Wednesday, to Plowden's Wharf. He has 45¢ what remained of the $1.00.

Very Respectfully, Yours,
Superintendent of Education.

Dear Sir:

I have the honor to forward herewith transportation orders {G} Nos. 11,996 to 12,303 inclusive, for cancellation, they having been returned to me by the teacher, not used.

Also orders {G} Nos. 4194 and 4195, and 2355-2339, and 4465, said orders not having been used, but transportation paid instead by the Balt. Association, which transportation has not been refunded as they have neglected to forward proper orders for the same.

Very Respectfully, Yours,
Superintendent of Education.

Dear Sir:

It is quite necessary that I know where the teachers are, as their reports are due. I have written Green to go to another place, if he cannot get on at P. Anne.

There is no prospect of any more transportation from the Bureau. It costs us too much in clerical force and otherwise, to give it. In other words, to give you a dollar in transportation costs the Govt. the dollar, and probably another dollar to make out papers &c. You will get help in rent, next year, I judge and in bulding houses.

Very Respectfully, Yours,
Superintendent of Education.
