Bureau R.F. and A.L.
Office Supt. Education, D.C. &c
Washington, Sept. 8th 1869.

[[underlined]] Gillett Mr. R. H. [[/underlined]]

Dear Sir: We are not able to employ an Agent your way. If we were, I know of no one I would like better than yourself. We shall be able to help somewhat in building houses, but not more than $200.00 in a place. If the people of Newtown or any other place want help, and will buy land, and build after our plan sent from his Office; we shall be able to help to that amount.
I expect to leave soon for California.

Very Respectfully Yours,

Dear Sir:

I am about leaving this work for a home in California. I have on hand about $145.00 in [[?]], [[?$]] worth of property belonging to you, and $3.50 in money. I will turn over other property to my successor, or make any disposition of it which you may desire. I'm sorry I have not sold more, but my position has not enabled me to attend to it, and I have had too much other work to do. [[underlined]] Mr. Wm. Ballantyne [[/underlined]] Book Seller, might take the property. He is a good man. I will send the money to you.

Respectfully Yours,

Dear Sir:

Please write me immediately the names of the Trustees of Col'd School, at Leonardtown. Also, if the land has ever been deeded, and if so, to whom? All well.

I am going to California in Oct., with family, to stay.

Will you go along? Regards to your wife.

[[underlined]] Woolman Friend. [[/underlined]]

Friend Woolman:

The Bureau will pay rent the same as last time, but no transportation of teachers. Mr. [[underlined]] Alvord [[/underlined]] sent out a Circular which you should have, giving information of this. I know of no more aid for the year, and do not think anything more will be done by Bureau. I go to California next month to-day. Expect to be home most of the month only, as I take short trips to hold meetings among the people. Shall be glad to see you. Family home and well. Regards to your family.

Very Truly, Yours,
Supt. Education.
