Dear Miss:

I wish you to open school at Forktown, Somerset Co. Md., next Monday, if you can. You will go by R. R. to this place, and inquire for [[underlined]] Hezekiah Black [[/underlined]], who will aid you to a boarding place, and in commencing your school. You will pay your way to the place, and the Society will pay it home next July. Salary will be $20.00 per mo., and board, which board the people will furnish. There has been a school in the place this summer, taught by Mr. [[underlined]] Wm H. Carter [[/underlined]]. I cannot place you and [[underlined]] Miss Alexander [[/underlined]] near each other, at this time. Let me hear from you as soon as you go.

Respectfully,

Dear Sir:

I do not know of any place where I can send the white man. Most have colored teachers, and need men mostly. There are several places for [[underlined]] Chas. S. Shadd, [[/underlined]] if a good man, but I would like him to go to Huntingtown, Calvert Co., Md. He can go by the Pautuxent River boat from the foot of Fredrick St, Baltimore, on Wednesday or Saturday, at 6 o'clock A.M., and get off at Deep Landing, and report to [[underlined]] Abraham Hicks [[/underlined]], who will provide for him.

Respectfully Yours,
(Sgd.) John Kimball,
Supt Education.

Dear Sir:

How about that place near you that has a school house, and was to be ready for a teacher. Will you please send me the directions, how to go, and where to stop, and to whom to report, and I will send along, a colored lady to teach the school. Let me hear from you.

Respectfully Yours,
(Sgd.) John Kimball,
