Dear Sir:

Since writing you the other day, I have disposed of quite a quantity of excellent furniture placed in my hands, so that I am able to pay you the balance due, which is as follows.

Value of Globes &c. sent me— | $336.60
To be given Freedmen's Schools— | 250.00
Leaving to be sold | $86.60
On this you allowed me 23¢ [[?]] | $21.65
Balance your due | 64.95
Aug. 23d 1868, I paid you | 29.75
Balance now, your due | 35.20

Enclosed find draft for that amount, for which please send receipt in full. During the past month, I have sent a large number of teachers into the country schools of my district, and with them have gone many of your globes &c. to do great good. I have still a few on hand, but I have not sold enough as yet to pay me anything for my trouble. On the contrary I have had to advance a small amount to pay you up. But I did not want my part of you. I hope you will never regret your kindness, and that you will excuse this long delay in paying your due.

Very Respectfully, Yours,
(Sgd.) John Kimball
Supt. Education.

Dear Sir:

I wish you to teach the school at Fairfield, St. Marys Co. Md. You will come to Baltimore or Washington, and take the steamer for Point Lookout or Piney Point and report to [[underlined]] John Bailey, [[/underlined]] School Trustee, who will look out for you. The Baltimore and Washington steamers stop at these landings. Fairfield is some little distance from the landings probably 6 or 8 miles, but being a man
