Are the colored people ready for a teacher, at Clear Springs?  I can send them a colored lady, but shall expect them to gather a school of about 30 pupils, and pay teachers board and incidental expenses of the school.  I will be responsible for her salary.  Please answer without delay, and give directions how the teacher can reach your place from Baltimore.

If the school trustees will not make arrangements for you to teach within a few days I shall have to send you to Frostburg, which is not far from Hancock.  Tell the trustees that unless they get their school open soon, we shall not be able to supply them with a teacher when they shall be ready.  If you are obliged to go to Frostburg, report to Mr. [[underlined]] George Johnson, [[/underlined]] and he will see that you are properly cared for.

Write at once, and inform me how matters are.
