[[underlined]] Core John, Esq. [[/underlined]]
Baltimore, Md.

Dear Sir:

Can you give us any information in relation to place mentioned in enclosed letter? The Miss [[underlined]] Whittington [[/underlined]] referred to is one of our teachers, whom we sent to Hancock, but the people were not ready for her, and she returned home, and not requests to be sent to Elkton. We would like to know whether you intend to supply the place or not, or have any objections to our sending a teacher there, as we believe it is one of your schools.

How many pupils can be gathered there? We want to locate what teachers we can get to the best advantage.

Very Respectfully, Yours,
D. G. Swaim,
Bvt. Maj. U.S.A., A.D.C. and Supt. Act. Ed.

Dear Sir:

Yours received. When I wrote you in October, offering to send a teacher on certain conditions, I was prepared to do so: but since then we have sent out all the teachers we can find, or rather all that the Societies (by whom their salaries are paid) are able to support. In case we should succeed in securing more teachers I will notify you.

Very Respectfully, Yours,

Miss:

Your letter to Mr. [[underlined]] Core [[/underlined]] has been referred to me. We thought you wanted to return to this place. You should have considered about the distance you would have to walk before you went back.

We want the school to continue, and if you intend to leave at the commencement of the holidays we must send one to fill your place. Please write and let us know the condition of your school, and send reports for October and Nov. Cannot say at present whether we can offer you another school or not.

Very Respectfully, Yours,
D. G. Swaim,

Dear Sir:

Yours received. I send you a school register and blanks. Please forward your reports for October and November. Report night school on the same blank, but keep the two schools separate and carry figures for night school to the right.

By what Society is your salary paid? We thought you was employed by the Baltimore Association.

Very Respectfully, Yours,
D. G. Swaim,
Bvt. Maj. U.S.A. A.D.C., and Act. Supt. Ed.
