Washington, Dec. 2d 1869.

Dear Sir:

Your report is returned for correction and for proper filling out. We can make nothing of it. You do not state how many pupils you have enrolled, nor what your average attendance is. The questions on this blank are very simple, if you will only read them. As we wrote you before we want you to make out a report of your school on one of the blanks for the time you taught in October, and then make out one for November, and forward them both to this office without delay.

Very respectfully, Yours,
D. G. Swaim,
Bvt. Maj. U.S.A., A.D.C., Act. Supt. Ed.

Dear Sir:

The Bureau does not furnish book. If you will write me an order for the kind and number of books you want I will give it to Mr. [[underlined]] Ballantyne. [[/underlined]] He will fill the order and send the parcel according to your instructions, and at your risk. He will also hold me responsible for the bill which I shall pay and deduct the amount from your salary. You must sell these books to your pupils or their parents at a price sufficient to cover all expenses.

We will try to send you a few Sunday School papers, &c with the parcel.

Very respectfully, Yours,
D. G. Swaim,
Bvt. Maj. U.S.A., A.D.C., and Act. Supt. Ed.

Dear Sir:

We will try to send you a teacher as soon as possible, and shall expect the people of your place to hold themselves in readiness. Since we offered you one in October we have located all the teachers that our Northern Societies think they are able to support; but we are making efforts to secure more, and if we succeed we will supply you.

Very respectfully, Yours,
D. G. Swaim,
Bvt. Maj. U.S.A., A.D.C., and Act. Supt. Ed.
