Dear Sir:

About ten days since I requested [[underlined]] Rev. E. F. Hatfield, [[/underlined]] Secy [[underlined N. Y. Presby. Dear Sir:

We were informed that you wanted a appointment as teacher of the school at Bladensburg, and we wrote you on the 1st inst. offering you the situation and requesting an immediate answer, as to when you could commence teaching &c. As we have heard nothing from you we presume that you are not particular about accepting the school, and unless you report to this office (at Howard University) in person, sometime this week, between the hours of 9 A.M. and 3 P.M., we shall send another teacher to the place.

Very respectfully, Yours,

Dear Sir:

About the time we received your last teacher, to whom we had engaged the school, at Hancock, wrote us requesting to be sent to another place, and we wrote Mr. [[underlined]] Lewey [[/underlined]] that if he was still at Hancock, and had a good school he had better remain. He has just replied stating that he has commenced teaching there and is doing well.

Very respectfully, Yours,

Dear Sir:

We are informed by one of the trustees of the school at Huntingtown that [[underlined]] Chas. S. Shadd [[/underlined]] was taken sick and has returned home, and they request another man in his place. You paid him $20.00 in advance, and we are held responsible for $6.01/100 worth of books he purchased of [[underlined]] Cushings and Bailey. [[/underlined]] He taught just about [[rubbed out word]] long enough to have his salary cover the amount. Hope you will send us the name of a good man to fill the vacancy; or we may be able to find one here. We have appointed [[underlined]] C. R. Morse [[/underlined]] to continue the school at Bladensburg, vice [[underlined]] Wm. H. Harris [[/underlined]] resigned. The school at Rockville taught by [[underlined]] J. H. Fleet [[/underlined]] closed on the 1st inst., owing to the difficulty between the church and school trustees, for which we think the teacher some what to blame. We want to appoint Miss [[underlined]] M. J. Smith [[/underlined]] (who taught at Robeyston last year) in his place for school at Clear
