Miss:

We proposed to send you to Rockville, not Point of Rocks, and we are sorry to learn that you made such a mistake. You will have to return, and take the Rockville stage which starts from this city daily. Please write as soon as you arrive. This school must be opened within a few days.

I think a school cannot be formed at Spencerville large enough to warrant a teacher. It is too near Brighton and Sandy Spring.

Miss Johnson can go to Upper Marlboro. She leaves here by stage. That is the nearest point to her friend I can put her.

I have no application for a teacher from Spencerville. The people know it wont pay.

Yours &c.,
Bvt. Maj. and Supt. Education
