Dear Madam:

We will let Miss [[underlined]] Douglass [[/underlined]] remain at Upper Marlboro.

I have sent blanks to all the schools. I intended having all the schools visited.

Mr. [[underlined]] Butler [[/underlined]] an intelligent colored man, has been appointed to assist me, and he will visit all the schools on the [[underlined]] Western Shore, [[/underlined]] and I expect to get to those on the [[underlined]] Eastern Shore. [[/underlined]] I would like, if you would at your leasure give me a coomplete list of the addresses of your teachers in Mo. Miss [[underlined]] Clarke [[/underlined]] has not replied to my letter yet. I expect to have quite a number of applicants for places next week, and will place some of them on your account.

Very Respectfully &c.,
Bvt. Maj., and Supt. Education.
