Dear Madam:

Thanks for the desk. [[underlined]] Mr. Crosby [[/underlined]] has not yet returned and I am all in confusion. [[underlined]] Henry Brown's [[/underlined]] address is [[underlined]] "Allen's Fresh" Charles Co., Maryland. [[/underlined]] There is no P.O. at [[underlined]] Newport. [[/underlined]] Will transfer Miss [[underlined]] George [[/underlined]] as soon as possible.

Sir:

Will you please let me know what the trouble is with your school. Why was it so small, and how did the people like the teacher. [[underlined]] Col. Graham [[/underlined]] told me you could give me reliable information.

Yours respectfully

Dear Sir:

I have not yet heard from you, but presume you are on the ground and at work. Application has been made for a school at [[underlined]] Saint Edmonds [[/underlined]] between [[underlined]] Mt Hope [[/underlined]] and [[underlined]] Hume Point. [[/underlined]] I do not think a school there will pay, but wish you would go to that point and inspect the place and see the neighborhood. Mr. [[underlined]] David Earle [[/underlined]] can give you all the points.

Yours Respectfully
Bvt. Major & Supdt. Education D.C.

Dear Sir:

Yours of the 4th instant is received. We have no schools in [[underlined]] Maryland, [[/underlined]] where we can employ white Teachers.
My District does not include [[underlined]] Virginia. [[/underlined]] You will have to apply to [[underlined]] R. M. Manly, Richmond, Va., [[/underlined]] for information concerning that State.

Very Respectfully
