Dear Sir:

I have received a letter from Mr. Barker of Berlin Md. saying that Guinney had closed his school and gone home.

He has sent me no report for February and an imperfect one for January, which I was obliged to return, but which he did not correct. I hope you will not pay him till he complies with orders and he ought not to be paid for Feby, if he closed without your order.

Cant you send a [[underlined]] good [[/underlined]] lady teacher in his place or let me send one on your a/c. I feel confident that a [[underlined]] large [[/underlined]] school can be formed there, by a competent teacher, and it is so far out of the way that it is liable to be overlooked.

Yours Respectfully
Bvt. Major and Supt. of Education.

Miss:

I believe you have been furnished with school register, and blanks for monthly reports, but we have received none of your school reports. Unless you forward one of these reports promptly at the end of each month to this office, the Society by whom you are employed, cannot claim their rental money from this Bureau, which amounts to half your salary.

Please make out a report from the time you commenced teaching in January to the first of February, and another to the first of March, and send them to this office immediately.

Very Respectfully Yours

Dear Sir,

Your reports are received and I am glad you are making such good progress. I have sent a teacher to the Helen Creek School, but the people must look after him as I can only pay him 14$ per month and they must pay his expenses in getting there. I sent Miss Smith to Little Union school, but have not heard from her. Go to Helen Creek and see how they get along. I cannot send an order for the lumber till the Deed has been passed upon by the Chief Q. Master. You did not say anything about Insurance. See that all the houses are insured.

Yours Respectfully
Bvt. Major and Supt. of Education.
