Gentlemen:

I have the honor to acknowledge the gift of forty six new and good Books for the Tree Library under my charge. Also the receipt of "Harper's Weekly," which I take pleasure in placing in the same Library. Please accept my most hearty thanks for the same on behalf of the Gruntmen and Soldiers of the District of Colombia.

I have also received the eight (8) sets of Wilson's Readers. Six(6) sets for sale and two(2) sets for gratuitous distribution. I thank you on behalf of the Schools for the Books given and will sell those sent for sale and many more of the same kind , I trust, in good time. 

When we want your Readers had I best order of you direct, or through some Bookseller here? Do I understand that we can purchase at 35/100 less than the printed list of prices? Some of our Teachers say that while they like Wilson's better than the National Series by Barnes, that Wilson's the most decisive. I tell them that I
