March 29th 7

Capt A A Lawrence,

Dear Sir,

Your communication about a school house at Leonardtown has been referred to me. How would it be about the land if we furnish lumber for a building . & would the colored people put up the Building If you could get the colored people to organize themselves into a school society and appoint trustees and purchase a lot of land. And agree to erect the building if send the lumber. I am very sure you can depend upon our so doing. And I think the N York Friends would send a teacher. I am glad you are moving in this matter & hope we may have several schools in the county before the season is over. Please send me reports of schools near St. Joseph's Church for March. Let me hear about the house soon.

Very resp
John Kimball
