April 24 7

Rev Albert Bouldin,

Dear Sir,

I have made your application to Genl Howard for a position in this Bureau, as a minister for marrying the colored people. We are not able to employ another minister on a salary & therefore shall have to decline your offer, but I hope you will continue to [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [/strikethrough]] do the excellent work in which you are now engaged, when it does not conflict with your other duties & you have time. For one I thank you for the good work you have already done.

Rev Mr Wright is now employed by us to canvass the whole city & marry all he can, who ought to be married.

Respectfully
John Kimball
Supt of Marriages
