Miss Baker,
I visited your school in St Marys Co. a few days ago. I find the ladies living very much alone, out in the woods, and though doing much good & interested in their work I could wish them more pleasantly situated.

We intend immediately to build a school house in Leonardtown, & probably two or three more in different parts of St Marys Co. Will you not furnish all the teachers needed for the County, and will it not be better to move these ladies into town school where they can get good board in white families, and place a colored man over the school at St Josephs. I think one school will be enough for the place.

Very respectfully
John Kimball
Supt of Schools
