Washington DC.
Oct 23rd 1867.

Dr Wilmer

A Colored man named John Wesly Washington called this morning & said that the Colored people near the "Trap" two miles from the Potomac River between Smith's Point & Nanjimoi Creek had obtained land of Thomas Ratliff & deeded it to "Mr Wilmer" for a school, that they had raised $75.00 to put up a house & wanted the lumber. Gnl Howard wanted me to write to you about the matter.

We are ready to furnish if all is right.

Very respectfully yours
John Kimball
Supt of Schools.
