Oct 27th

Rev Mr Lanahan,

Dear Sir,

Your letter of Oct 21st has been referred to me by Gnl C. H. Howard. I was at Rockville last week, and examined the house. It is as you know very much out of repair. The Bureau will aid the Colored people to get a school house. We are willing to give $200.00 if with that help they can get a house. (This is the amount which we give in most places)

They would like to buy the church, and fit up the basement for a school & use the other part for a church. Quite a sum of money must be expended thus to fit it up. They can raise but a small sum now.
