You see by this that the Trustees have now no money to pay Teachers, this was unexpected by us, and if it had not been for help from Societies, we should have but very few schools in Washington now.  The Trustees are employing 32 Teachers, and the Societies furnish about 30 Teachers.  When this money is obtained I do not think the Societies should support a single Teacher here one day longer.  And now the Whites are running their schools and the Teachers are waiting for their pay.  I think the Colored schools could be run in the same way and would be if the Trustees were willing to take corresponding responsibility.  I am not sorry that the A N A has withdrawn all Teachers.
