Capt Lawrence,

Miss Howell is here, she expected to go to Leonardtown. Now that the place is taken, can you not place her in some other school. She would be willing to go to St Clemmens Bay or Chaptico or any other place in the county, I think, where she could have a good boarding place near the school, in a white family, and a good school & ns house. I want very much that she should come & you do I know. I will see to her salary, the rest must be paid by the people. I shall send Mr Davis, colored man, on Saturday for Great Mills.
