April 30th

Mr. Charles Locks
New Market, Md.

He thought a school of about fifty pupils could be gathered, and I have therefore instructed Miss Phenia Crisfield, who is now teaching at Darlington, Harford County to take your school. It will cost her four or five dollars to reach New Market, and I shall expect you, as one of the trustees, to see that the people subscribe and pay her the amount of her fare.

I hope you will not fail to keep up a large school
