May 20th

Mr. Wm Nelson,
Chaptico, Md.

Dear Sir:
Your letter addressed to Mr. Kimball is at hand. Mr. K. left here several months ago and has nothing to do with schools in Maryland now.

I am not able to send you a teacher at present, nor am I prepared to promise or state at what time I can send one. Most of the schools in the State will close on the 31st of this month, and it is not yet decided whether or not any schools will be kept up during the summer. As soon as I succeed in securing more teachers I will remember you.

Very Respectfully, Yours,
W. L. Van Derlip
Bvt. Maj. & Supt. of Education
