19^[[60]] ^[[Been trying to get some books from the library for four days. Also some butter & sugar from the store. No success. No butter for over a week and nothing to read for five days. Don't know what is wrong. Also the two papers, Worker, and Daily Worker have been stopped. Miss them very much, Potatoes for supper would be better with butter.]]

19^[[60]] ^[[Barbara's birthday. One year I have no gift for her. Wrote a letter this morning, at least started it, wishing her a happy birthday. Will mail it later in the month though. Got three  books from library, had already read two. Read the Iron Heel by J.London.]]
