[[pre-printed]] January 9

19^[[61]]^ [[Hasn't been too bad a day. Spent most of day working on carpet - comming along fine. Visited by Maj. who ask if we had any questions. He gave me a carton of cigs. when I ask for them. He also said that it was his and his comrade's opinion that things would go good for me if Kennedy made a good policy toward better relations with USSR etc. My release depends on Kennedy. [[circled]] Hope he doesn't let me down. [[/circled]] Potatoes for supper. Took some tonight. Added pork lard and an onion - good.

January 10

19^[[61]]^ [[Same as usual today. Expected some mail but did not receive any - maybe tomorrow. Took one walk and a nap in the afternoon. Worked a lot on the carpet. Will not have enough light green wool - will have to improvise. Potatoes for supper, didn't take any ate the milk I saved from dinner plus some bread and margarine. Am hoping very much my release will be in the near future. Constantly on my mind.
