Captain- I transmit herewith a letter dated Brazos July 17th from [[underlined]] I.F. Neely [[/underlined]] late a clerk to Capt, M.I. Bunch A.C.S in which Capt B. is charged with various frauds on the U.S; These papers are submitted to you for further investigation, or to be forwarded to the Department as you may deem best. Mr. N. offers to make oath to some of the specifications and to prove them all.

I also submit for your decision two receipts for fresh beef given by [[underlined]] Capt. Bunch [[/underlined]] to [[underlined]] Contractor Gleason. [[/underlined]]

The duplicates are retained by me. With these receipts I submit copies of five letters from [[underlined]] Capt. Bunch [[/underlined]] to the [[underlined]] Depôt Comes: [[/underlined]] at Monterey dated June 13th, 14th, 17th: & July 2nd 1847, and one letter from [[underlined]] Lt. Stewart [[/underlined]] depôt A.C.S. to [[underlined]] Capt. Bunch [[/underlined]] as the transaction here in question took place before my arrival, I do not feel authorized to decide on it. I do not doubt the genuineness of the receipts, but shall await your instructions and the return of the receipts before paying it.

Captain.. You will please forward by the next train, to this depôt (Lt I Steward A.C.S.) the following Subsistence Stores, viz:

200,000 rations of vinegar (2000 Gallons)
in addition to the extra articles ordered by me on August 17th 1847.

You will also please to forward from six to ten Barrels Whiskey if you have it on hand.

Sir, You will, at the end of each month, forward your [[underline]] monthly summary statement [[/underline]] (see Form 12 Reg. Sub Dept.) to Capt A.B. Eaton C.S. Brazos Depôt by whom it will be transmitted to the C.G.S. at Washington, D.C. The money vouchers (receipts for payments made by you) do not accompany the Summary Statement, but are to be forwarded with your quarterly account current.

Keep on hand at your post not less than two weeks supply of Subsistence, and, in making your Estimates on the Depôt Commissary at Camargo, state ...

1...The number of men and days and total number of rations of each article of the ration required by you.
2...The number of rations of each article required from  the Depôt at Camargo...
3...The number of rations of each article on hand at date of your estimate.

Keep on hand a small amount of the extra articles of pickles & dried apples for occasional issue to troops and particularly to men in hospital if required by the Surgeon.

Captain, I have received your letters of the 28th of August and 1st of September, and with the latter the Com. Genl's Circular of August 7th. The A.C.S. here, and above shall all be furnished with these instructions.

I ordered Capt. Britton not to forward any more supplies here, except on special requisition, as there is a great quantity on hand. We are issuing the old stores or the best parts of them, but the Bread and Flour are rapidly spoiling and as there are large supplies of those articles here, it is not probable that we can use any of the old stock  now at the depôts below.

From information received from Washington I presume that Capt Patrick will be ordered to Vera Cruz and as orders have been received to relieve Capt Britton I have requested that Major Roman Col. C.S. may be assigned to the
