February 9th, 1870  States that the school here in charge of [[underlined]] Amber Harden [[/underlined]] is in a prosperous condition, the number of pupils enrolled - 142 with an average attendance of 96: that the teacher expects to be removed April 1st, but hopes he may be continued, since his removal would be detrimental to the school: Says that the people are alive to their interests.

| | at which, he inquired into the difficulty. Found it to be the result of the indebtedness of the trustees to the builder of the house. Amount $154.15. Order was restored and affairs adjusted by the appointment of a new board of trustees. All is right, and the people wish a competent female teacher to be sent them.

States that he visited the school here, and found everything in a prosperous condition, with 55 pupils [[on all?]] and an avg. attendance of 44: that things are hopeful in this County: Hopes that his news about St Edmunds were noted, &c., &c. States trouble at Galesville. Desires you to address him at Owensville A. A. Co.
