States that the lumber for repair of school house can be sent by bearer [[underlined]] John D Adley [[/underlined]]: that his school numbers 67 pupils, and inquires if an assistant can be employed.

3.2.70 #50 * | Butler, John H. Agent. | Oakville, St. Mary's Co. Md. February 25th 1870  States that he found the school house had been burnt at this place: that the people want it rebuilt. Recommends that the lumber which was sent to Chaptico be used as far as it will go, &c. Requests to be addressed at St. Clements Bay.

States that the people at this place are well pleased with their teacher, [[underlined]] Miss York [[/underlined]]: that the school has an average of 25 pupils: that the Catholic portion of the people make use of the schoolhouse, for dancing, and he is making an effort to stop it.
