Received package of books, and thinks there has been a mistake as to charges.  States that the Post Master refuses to forward her communications until postage is paid.  Wishes Supt. to write him.  Rec'd salary for December.

Encloses applications from Misses Glocester, and Howard, the former desires the position of assistant to Miss Whittington at Elkton, the latter desires a school near Brighton.  Thinks Miss Glocester a suitable person, if needed for assistance.  States that Miss Howard is an excellent teacher, and is willing to send her if desired.  Wishes an immediate reply.

2,7,'70 #26 * | Commission, N.Y. Branch F.U.  J.S. Lowell, Secretary. | North Shore N.Y.  February 3d 1870.  Encloses list of Maryland teachers, and their addresses as known to her.  Desires to know how late teachers may be sent.  States the receipt of Supt's of the 2d inst., and at the same time one from Miss George, and wishes her transferred to Birdsville, and the appointment of a gentleman to the vacancy:  That Miss Iredell will be engaged at a salary of $20.00 per mo., and would hear from her immediately:  Wishes the address of Henry Brown, and encloses his recommendation.  Desires name of Mrs. Clarks asst.

States that [[underlined]] Miss Howard [[/underlined]] has decided to take a private school at home:  that he has advanced Miss Glocester $20.00 and she has gone to Elkton.  Inquires if there be anything due [[underlined]] Douglass. [[/underlined]]  Also if Anderson is to return.  States that [[underlined]] Schadd [[/underlined]] will apply for a school.
