Regrets that her brief stop in Washington will not admit of her visiting some of the Maryland schools.  States that they do not want to send [[underlined]] Mr. Chew [[/underlined]] to Church Hill, if there be any doubt as to rental money:  that the N.E. Branch F.U. Com., will adopt [[underlined]] Mrs. Clark's [[/underlined]] assistant, &c.

3,2,'70 # 42* | Commission, N.Y. Branch F.U.  Mrs C.R. Lowell, Secy. | North Shore, N.Y.  February 28th 1870.  States in reply, that they will accept [[underlined]] Mr. Chew & Mr Smith [[/underlined]] et al, teachers on condition that they have a sufficient number of pupils to insure rental: 
 that if it can be so arranged they would prefer to pay $15.00 per month in lieu of $20.00 &c.

States that he paid [[underlined]] Miss Alexander [[/underlined]] her salary for December:  that they are not able to send any more teachers at present.  Requests to have [[underlined]] Somers [[/underlined]] sent to Forktown.  Acknowledges receipt of list of teachers.

Jenkins [[/underlined]] $20, February 4th [[underlined]] Josephine Glocester [[/underlined]] $20, also [[underlined]] Miss R. Alexander [[/underlined]] $20 salary for December.

3,8,'70 # 46* | Catto, Octavius V. | 814 South St. Philadelphia, Pa.  March 5th 1870.  States that [[underlined]] Mr A.F. Hill [[/underlined]] started on the 4th inst., to open school at Salem Md:  that [[underlined]] Miss Scott, [[/underlined]] who was to take the school at [[underlined]] Soloman's [[/underlined]] Island is sick, and there is no prospect of her being able to go under two or three weeks:  that [[underlined]] Miss Sarah Adger, [[/underlined]] who is well recommended is ready to go in her place.

3,10,'70 # 47* | Cajoy John  Teacher | Leonardtown, St. Mary's Co. Md.  March 5th 1870.  Reports his school in a very prosperous condition.  Requests that $2.50/100 be deducted from his salary, and paid [[underlined]] Mr. Webb [[/underlined]] as his subscription for the "New Era".

3,11,'70 # 48* | Commission Penn. Branch F.U.  Col R.R. Corson, Cor. Secy. | Philadelphia, Pa.  March 10th 1870.  Inquires if [[underlined]] W.V. James [[/underlined]] is teaching, and if so, when he commenced, and how much is now due him.  States that he paid him $20.00 for the mo. of December, and $10.00 for transportation home:  that he will send check to pay teacher for February.
