Inquires whether the amount for Mr. Hills expenses is to be sent him direct or to the Supt.  States that they have made no arrangement with teachers to pay their book-bills, and would prefer to have them settle these accounts.  Requests to be furnished with the full names of their new teachers, and salaries furnished them.

3,14,'70 #50 * | Chew Joseph  Teacher. | Church Hill, queen Anne Co. Md.  March 10th 1870.  States that he has just opened school at this place.  Inquires if the books used are to be paid for by the pupils.

3,22,'70 #51 * | Cushing and Bailey  Booksellers. | Baltimore, Maryland.  March 21st 1870.  Acknowledges the receipt of Check for $28.53/100 in payment of teachers bills.  Encloses statement for [[underlined]] S.B. Swan's [[/underlined]] account which they request to have paid.

States that they are willing to forward the money to pay teacher's book bills if the teachers understand that it is to be deducted from their salaries:  that they will send another teacher to Federalsburg if desired on the usual conditions:  that the Anapolis assistant is to report to [[underlined]] Mrs Cheney [[/underlined]] of the [[underlined]] N.E. Society. [[/underlined]] Requests to have all their new teachers instructed to write to her, &c.

[[/underlined]] on [[underlined]] James' [[/underlined]] a/c., and deducts [[underlined]] $6.00/100, [[/underlined]] paid [[underlined]] Miss V. Taylor, $20.00, [[/underlined]] paid to [[underlined]] J.L. Jenkins, [[/underlined]] and [[underlined]] $20.00 [[/underlined]] paid [[underlined]] Miss J. Gloucester. [[/underlined]]
