4,28,'70 #69 * | Commission N.Y. Branch F.U.  Mrs C.R. Lowell, Secy. | West New Brighton, New York.  April 25th 1870.  Forwards duplicate rental a/c of schools for quarter ending March 31st 70.  States that if hte Bureau will pay the $10.00 per mo. for the schools taught by Messrs [[underlined]] Hill, Harrison, Chew and Miss Smith [[/underlined]] they will continue them until June 30th:  that she has instructed the [[underlined]] Misses Jones and Richards [[/underlined]] to close their schools May 1st:  that they cannot continue any schools unless the rental money can be assured.  Requests to be supplied with rental blanks.

4,30,'70 #70 * | Crisfield Phenia C.  Teacher. | Darlington, Harford Co. Md.  April 28th 1870.  States that she has only ten pupils, and there is no present prospect of an increase this summer, as the people do not manifest sufficient interest in sending their children.  Inquires if she shall continue to teach.

5,4,'70 #71 * | Coates, George | Port Republic, Calvert Co. Md.  April 14th 1870.  Applies for a teacher, &c.

5,5,'70 #72 * | Commission Pa. Branch F.U.  Col. R.R. Corson, Cor. Secy. | Philadelphia, Pa.  May 4th 1870.  States that their board has decided to close their Maryland schools on the 1st of June:  that they sent out a large number of teachers with the expectation that they were to receive $10.00 per mo., for twelve months on each school, the same they were paid last year, and what they were promised two years ago:  that they hope to make some arrangement whereby they can send teachers in the fall.

5,6,'70 #73 * | Cajoy, John.  Teacher. | Leonardtown, St. Mary's Co. Md.  May 4th 1870.  States that [[underlined]] Mr. Fry [[/underlined]] has left the school at Cross Roads:  that the people would not board him on account of some misconduct on his part:  that there is a young man stopping with him [[underlined]] (Cajoy) [[/underlined]] who is qualified to teach, and whom the trustees wish to have appointed in [[underlined]] Fry's [[/underlined]] place.  Requests to be furnished with papers for his pupils.

5,6,'70 #74 * | Commission N.Y. Branch F.U.  Mrs C.R. Lowell, Secy. | West New Brighton, N.Y.  May 5th 1870.  C Acknowledges receipt of letters dated 28th and 25th insts., and also vouchers for rental account.  Inquires if the form of the voucher cannot be changed so that the erroneous statement may not appear that these school buildings are owned by the society.  States that they shall be glad to have rental for New England teachers if they are not obliged to apply for it as for their own teachers:  that neither the N.E. Society nor her own like to obtain money on these vouchers.  Requests that the N.E. Society may be notified if any of their schools are too small to be kept up through the present month.

5.11.70 75 * | Commission N.Y. Branch F.U.  Mrs. C.R. Lowell  Secy. | West New Brighton, N.Y.  May 9th 1870.  States that she has forwarded the bill against Miss [[underlined]] York [[/underlined]] to the New England Society, as this teacher is now supported by that society.

5.13.70 76 * | Commission Pa. Branch F.U.  Col. R.R. Corson, Cor. Secy. | Philadelphia, Pa.  May 12th 1870.  Forwards Check for $855.86/100 to pay their Maryland teacher's salaries for April.
