Jany, 1st 1870 States that her School-house is not properly furnished with seats &c.: that the people are scarcely able to pay her board, but they do the best they can. Expects to have a large school this month, and hopes they may be aided in fitting up the house. 

1, 26, '70 # 2 * | Foster Wm H. Teacher. | Great Mills, St Mary's Co. Md. January 21, 1870. States enrollment of 63 pupils, and an average attendance of 45. Desires an assistant, or increased pay that, he may employ one, through the mos. of Feb. and March, at least, School steadily increases in nos. 

1, 22, '70 # 3 | Fry David W. Teacher. | Cross Roads, Chaplico, St. Mary Co. January 19, 1870. Writes at length in relation to school matters. School house needs repairs. Pupils sufficient for an assistant. Desires to be transferred to Milestown where there is need of a teacher. Encloses receipt for $20.00

States an additional no. of books that he wishes. Wishes the books to be addressed to the care of Mr. Philip Wise, Millstone Landing.
