1. 28.'70 | 2 Hayes Joseph. E. B. No 1 # 249 and 250. | Emmittsburg, Fdk. Co. Md. Jany, 20. 1870 Requests balance due on material for school house which was ordered to be paid by [[underlined]] Genl. C. H. Howard. [[/underlined]] Reports difficulty between teacher and trustees; and that the school needs desks which the people are unable to buy. 

1, 27, '70 #3 * | Hamilton Jas R. | Queen Anne's Co., Md. January 24, 1870 States the opening of school and that his appointment dates from the 15th

1, 31, '70 #5 * | Higgins Thos. | Baltimore Md. January 28, 70 States that he was a volunteer in Co. H. H. A. of Mass. Desires the Genl. to assist him in procuring a situation as teacher.
