1, 18, '70. #1 * | Swan J. B. | West River Ann Arundel Co. Md. January 15, 1870. States that he has made an effort to pay the book bill, but has not succeeded: Sold some on credit before the receipt of Supt's letter: Has on hand books to the amount of $55.00, and $10 in cash, will return the same immediately if nothing else can be done, and desires to know if this will be sufficient. Wishes to hear from Supt. that, he may be able to return books on 21st of January. 

1, 27, '70 # 2 * | Smith William | Upper Marlb'h Prince George Co. Md. January 8, 1870. States that Mr Swayze promised to send a teacher, but his promise has not been fulfilled. Wishes an answer relative to a teacher immediately.

2, 4, '70 # 3 * | Smith Martha P. Teacher | Clear Springs, Washington Co Md. February 2, '70. Encloses list of books desired and map. Wishes to know when you will send them, and price when sent. 

1, 7, '70 # 4 * | Shockey Alfred Teacher | Galena, Kent Co., Md. January 4, 1870 Entered upon his duty as teacher at Davis Chapel school, by direction of Mr. Core, and is succeeding. 

2, 7, '70 # 5 * | Sommers W. Sarah | Darne's Qr. Somerset Co., Md. February 5th, 1870 States that by direction of Col. Corson, he gives notice of his arrival. Calls attention to the unhappy condition of school house, and wishes something done if possible, immediately. Needs blanks and register.
