Hagerstown, July 3, 1868.

Capt. J. C. Brubaker,

Sir,

I herewith enclose duplicate bill of lading recp'ted as directed.

We will not be able to do much till after harvest, most of the more industrious and energetic colored men being employed in the country.

While attending Court at Shepherdstown about 3 week since I met Mr. Davis from Harpers Ferry, who is your attorney in the suit against the School Commis. I think he will walk through the case quite handsomely. If his Irish wit happens to light on Maj. Andrews, in the progress of the trial, I would like to be there to see (as Johnni's Gilpin's poet would have said.)

Let me hear from you soon — Yrs —
