Darnestown, Md.
July 10th 1868

Butler, John H.

States that he has had an interview with several of the leading colored men of Darnestown, and they are ready to get out the timber for school-house.  Requests that the material be sent at once to Capt. [[underlined]] Feif's [[/underlined]] ware-house, care of  [[underlined]] Geo. W. Johnson. [[/underlined]]  Thinks they will have the house ready to open school by the 1st of October.

Do you want the lumber sent for this school house - if so, on what [[underlined]] plan [[/underlined]] - I did not have the directions when Butler was here but Crosby has since found them.
