Damascus, Montgomery Co. Md.
July 20th 1868

Butler, J. H. - Agent.

States that he went to Galesville and laid the corner stone of school-house, and raised about eighty-five dollars, which will be expended in finishing the house:  that he held a meeting at Poolsville on the 19th inst. and raised thirty-two dollars:  that they will pay for the lot and have the deed made out this week:  that the material should be sent to White's Ferry, Poolsville, care [[underlined]] John Adams: [[/underlined]] that at Damascus they have the land deeded for school-house and paid for, and will try to have the house ready by the first of October.
