Brubaker, Capt. J. C. — Sub-Asst. Comr.

States that schools have been opened at Smithfield and Sandy Hook, by two colored men, students of the Normal School: that the house at Hagerstown and ^[[insert]] the one [[/insert]] at Sandy Hook are progressing: that the Commissioners of Charlestown propose to keep all their schools open ten months, commencing Sept. 1st and it is expected they will do equally well in some of the other places:  

that he is taking measures to repair the house at Williamsport.
