January 2nd 1869
Swamp School House A. A. Co. Md
Rev. John Kimball

Dear Sir

The school house at this place is finished except porch, plastering and seats. The trustees are providing some seats to commence the school as soon as you will send them a teacher They say that they write to Maj. Vanderlip for a colored teacher and I think a man would suit this place much better than a woman as all of these low lands are nearly covered with water Send the teacher to Galesville by way of Baltimore and take steamer and if not met there by Jacob Dennis, some of the Swamp School trustees to ask for Henry Wilson who lives near the wharf and he will take care of the teachers till they can get to their places

Very Respectfully your servant
