Benedict Charles County Maryland
January 22nd 1869

Rev John Kimball

Dear Sir

I drop you these few lines to inform you that in pasing through this place I found the work on this school House stoped. I thought that it was my business to hold a meeting and see what the trouble was which I did and had a large attendance. Addressed them heard their complaints taken up a collection and sent to Balt for shingles enough to finish the House and started the man to work and I think the House will be ready for a teacher about the 1st day of March.

The House is large well build one and will be for the best House in Charles County. It is 35 feet long 24 feet wide and built different to any we have put up yet. I will give you further particulars of the building when I gets to Washington.

Yours Respectfully
