B 194 O.S.E.D.C. Vol. 1. 1869 Davis' School House St. Mary's Co. Md. Jany. 27th 1869. Butler, John H. States that the teacher of this school, [[underlined]] (Miss S. B. Howell) [[/underlined]] has left, and if she does not return the people desire a colored mal teacher in her place; that the sides of the house are plastered, and the debt, including board not over $50; that the land is not deeded, but Mr. [[underlined]] Davis [[/underlined]] promises to have it done and will forward copy &c. States that they prefer colored male teachers at Tall Pine, and at Fairfield. Rec'd. O.S.E.D.C. 2.2.69.
