Mount Zion, A. A. Co. Md.
April 9th 1869
Rev. John Kimball
Dear sir
I write to inform you that the school taught by Mr Swann is well attended and seems to be progressing finely. At a place about 5 miles below this place near Traces landing at a church called Little Union the people have done up or repaired their church and concluded to open a day school in it if you will send them a teacher. The gentlemen to write to are Dennis B. Young and Wm. H. Hardesty Friendship, A. A. Co. Md. There are a large number of children in this neighborhood and no school near much good might be done or accomplished in sending a teacher to this place. They prefer a colored Female teacher. Respectfully yours,
John H. Butler
