Bond, Hon. H. L.

Replies to letter addressed to Mr. [[underlined]] Core, [[/underlined]] inquiring if he (Core), had used the name or influence of the Bureau in favor of the Bond Party.  States that he knows of no such party:  that he has no knowledge of any such conduct on the part of Mr. [[underlined]] Core [[/underlined]] as indicated:  that he does know that Maj. [[underlined]] VanDerlip, [[/underlined]] whom the Bureau sent on business to Worcester County, did while there use both his time and influence in persuading the colored people that their confidence in him (Bond) was misplaced and that they ought to transfer their assistance to other persons who have never done anything for their benefit, &c. &c.
